Certified as “5-Star Airport” by the London-based aviation institute Skytrax, which was established in 1989, Istanbul Airport has achieved to be among the 8 global hub airports that achieved this title in the world. Additionally, it is stated that Istanbul Airport is the fourth airport in the world to receive the “5-Star COVID-19 Airport” award, a rating that is given specifically during the COVID-19 pandemic, after Fiumicino Airport in Rome, Hamad International Airport in Doha, and El Dorado Airport in Bogota. In addition to those achievements, Istanbul Airport has gained the privilege to be the airport with the biggest terminal in the world that has a “5-Star” rating.
There are a large number of taxi services available in İstanbul. Taxis from the airport are readily available outside the Arrivals Hall.
Transportation between the airport and the city center is provided via 10 HAVAIST routes. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, bus frequency is constantly adjusted by the number of flights and passenger density. You can find the fare and route details here.
İstanbul public transport offers an easy-to-use service all over the city. Use the “Mobiett” application to get the best possible routes or visit https://iett.istanbul/en. Ensure you have the “İstanbul Card” to pay for your fare, as bus drivers cannot accept cash payments on the bus. You can get your Classic Istanbul Card from ticket machines at airports or from buffets and dealers in the city. And from these points, you can upload the credit to your İstanbul Card with cash or credit card.
